RETAIL INTERIOR DESIGN – A TRANSFORMATIONAL APPROACH

Retail interior design is one of my favorite types of projects. This section will share tips on setting up a retail space to optimize sales, create the type of warm environment that keep customers wanting to come back again and again, with examples of how to better brand your store with subtle and big ideas. As always, we keep our inspirational resources fresh and diverse as our approach is more about bringing out our client’s brand into the design concept in a stylish and heart felt way rather than staying within one type of decor style.

We will bring you resources and inspiration from around the globe that shows the best retail design. In the interim, take a peek below as an example of how some of our favorite commercial projects came into fruition and think about the branding for your store project.

RETAIL INTERIOR DESIGN – ENHANCE YOUR BRAND

Our projects are a great example of how diverse you can be with your initial design concept. Where you are a well known brand or just starting out, it is important to give an indication of your values, your story, and show what sets you apart within your industry as your customer first enters your doors. They should be able to describe your brand to their friends without ever reading anything about you or even talking to you. The physical space should tell you a lot about the company right away.

When I came up with the concept for Erica Courtney and Alan Friedman’s beverly Hills jewelry stores, both were already well known in the world of luxury jewelry. Neither of their existing stores showed me anything personal about their work. I took a very different approach for the designs of each of their stores because each designer was so different in their personal style, artistry, brand message, and how they wanted their customer to feel as they came through the door.

RETAIL INTERIOR DESIGN | THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND THE DESIGN

OUR STORE DESIGN FOR ALAN FRIEDMAN – MANDALA SHAPED JEWELRY CASE

I did a design that was almost futuristic at the time for Alan Friedman’s store – over ten years ago. I wanted to do something as bold as his personality that would pay heavy attention to details as he did in his jewelry designs. I also wanted to play with the masculine qualities of him juxtaposed to the very feminine world of jewelry design. I did the hand sculpted cases in white to allow his colorful diamonds to be framed like works of art. The circular mandala shaped display ended up in an unexpected collaboration with James Peterson who hand sculpted the case from our pourable stone selection. My original design was the same as seen above with a different configuration for the glass displays. James brought in an illustration of multiple circles in the shape of a mandala we all flipped over. It ended up being a remarkable project.

RETAIL INTERIOR DESIGN – FENG SHUI

Growing up with feng shui there is something incredibly dynamic about being able to add the layer of a warm vibe into the design of a store. It is that feel that makes customers want to come back again and again.
