Wellness Home | design for healthy personal growth

How might your home be influencing your inner world of thoughts and emotions? Wellness design strategies have a profound, positive impact on mood and productivity, providing a foundation for life-changing results.

Course Description

Wellness Home examines the healing power of space. Your personal space can stimulate creativity, harmonize relationship, and nourish their fulfillment, or can inadvertently bring the opposite result.

Using their own home as a point of departure, the class leads students into a reflection of how design can help manage stress and promote wellness. Students are inspired to examine how the physical space they reside in impacts every aspect of their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being: how they heal, relax, motivate, produce, and feel inspired.

We will begin by proposing the following questions: What does your space say about you?

What are you telling yourself by the symbols are you surrounded by? Does your space align with who you are today? How do you sleep in your bedroom? What factors in your space may be making you anxious or overwhelmed? How your space can better reflect who you are, what you desire and what you wish to create?

Learning Objectives

Students will examine how…

  • Personalized colors restore a sense of balance.
  • Bioliphic design can deepen our connection to self and to nature.
  • To use lighting to reduce stress and give you a better sleep.
  • To generate a checklist of specific design goals/tasks for their bedroom.
  • To use elements from one’s childhood to trigger a feeling of safety, security, and feeling loved.

After taking this workshop, students will understand how walking into a home can instantly lift mood, make one feel serene, and inspire them to stay longer. The therapeutic tips offered in Wellness Home are like having a personal life coach for home design.

Space for Love | harmonize your love relationship

How can space attract and influence your intimacy? How might your space be impacting you as a couple?

Course Description

The design of a home isn’t always in harmony with attracting a significant other. Neither is it always conducive to nurturing a current relationship. This class explores how to set up your home to spark intimacy, to manifest a relationship and to keep your love alive.

This class is perfect for singles on the search, for couples seeking to grow their love, and for husbands and wives who wish to re-kindle their relationship. Students may choose to attend on their own or with a partner to get even more benefit!

We will begin by asking students… How do you feel in your home?   If single, is there room for love to enter in your home? If a couple, are both of you represented equally in the visual design of your home? What does intimacy look like to you?

If you’re single, it’s about preparing to share your space…and your life. If you’re currently sharing a home with a partner, then equal aesthetic representation within a space lays a foundation for a balanced partnership.

Learning Objectives

Students will have the opportunity to learn how to

  • Decorate a home when couples have different sensibilities.
  • Know which objects impact relationship.
  • One sided design voice can create an imbalance in relationship.

Color Therapy | use color to calm, inspire, motivate

What colors support your personal well-being and sense of joy? Personalized color remedies can affect our mental and emotional state of balance.

Course Description

People tend to have strong, innate opinions about colors they like or don’t like. As individuals, we perceive colors differently. The effects of color are also never the same for every person. Our past experiences may be unconsciously awakened by memories or feelings that involve specific colors. Using color psychology allows me to understand what sensations and memories they may have from various colors.

People can be prescribed colors psychologically to create a desired mood, motivate or spiritual grow. Colors are used as symbols in themselves (for example, indigo blue is a deeply meditative color and used for spiritual development). A thoughtful use of color in design can support emotional well-being and can even provide your best sleep.

Space to Heal | design tips to reduce depression and anxiety

What factors in your home could be triggering stress, anxiety, or depression? Your home reveals subliminal messages that may be influencing your thoughts, emotions and behavior.

Course Description

Is the home that contributes to one’s depression or is the depression responsible for manifesting a cluttered space? It is an important distinction. If depression can change a room’s dynamics, other factors can reshape it also. A Space to Heal provides additional concepts to understand and then act upon how your home manifests emotional well-being.

Environments can create subliminal feelings of isolation and reduce your sense of power. When you feel stuck in your life with excess of belongings that define painful memories the right intervention can support a sense of self-confidence and security. Understanding the root is the first step in figuring out how to shift the problem.

This workshop offers specific tips to cultivate the psychological, spiritual, and energetic benefits of your space. Building an understanding of working with perceptions of space is vital (a large room with the wrong floor plan may swallow up any sense of intimacy; yet smart choices in your home considers how spatial perception can offer a sense of freedom).

A sensitivity to the authentic, true self can allow us to identify and alter discordant design patterns that could obstruct movement into the future.

Learning Objectives

Students will have the opportunity to learn…

  • What to look for in your home where depression may have manifested.
  • How space may be influencing you with negative messaging.
  • Dissonant colors can make you feel overwhelmed
  • Poor lighting can worsen depression.
  • Floorplans can cause a feeling of isolation.
  • Inauthentic style can trigger insecurities.
  • Methods to identify how your space aligns with who you are today.
  • How to create spaces to better reflect your true, present-day self; especially, what you desire and what you wish to create.
  • Decipher the differences between Visual, Emotional or Physical Clutter.
  • How light and air can allow energy to move through the house.
  • How the architectural features, art and other decorative decisions can manifest behavioral patterns and influence our state of mind—affecting sense of joy, relaxation or inspiration.
  • Reduce environmental stressors influencing a feeling of being overwhelmed.

How these Classes are Unique?

Kim Colwell has created a new modality called Interior Psychology that bridges the gap between wellness, personal growth, metaphysics and space. Imagine a life coach who ties the design of your home to your lifestyle goals

This class addresses how your wellness and growth may inadvertently, be blocked by the space around us. Thoughtful design strategies can counter this.

Each class carries a particular life focus – on relationships, family dynamics, sleep/work productivity, personal empowerment. These interactive workshops facilitate the building blocks for students to engage with their environment to impart a shift in their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Students gain insight into powerful design questions. For example:

  • What types of spaces may be best for different types of people?
  • How does the set-up of home and office advance goals, stimulate creativity, nourish fulfillment?
  • How can identifying and changing stifling design open channels for newfound success?
  • Why are they are drawn to certain types of spaces?

Class Format

A combination of lecture, group discussion and hands-on experience, each class is current with the trends in wellness.  Workshops present stimulating, in-depth, inspirational lessons to spark creativity, personal epiphones and motivate personal growth.

Each workshop can be customized to the interests of your organization (a list of proposed classes is described, below).

Workshops employ diverse, conventional and unconventional methods, including: principles of interior design (including an understanding of color theory, lighingt, floorplan, etc.); theories of human psychology interacting with space; Feng Shui; sacred geometry; shamanic astrology; sustainable practice and mindfulness.
